Juniperus horizontalis 'Blue Chip' is a prostrate, mat-forming conifer prized for its fine-textured, steel-blue foliage and vigorous, spreading growth. This hardy evergreen typically grows to just 15–25 cm tall but can spread up to 2–2.5 meters wide, creating a dense, weed-suppressing carpet over soil surfaces.

In spring and summer, its foliage displays a silvery-blue tone that intensifies in cooler weather, often developing a purplish-bronze tint in winter, adding seasonal interest. Its low profile and color make it perfect for rock gardens, banks, retaining walls, or as a cascading accent over edges.

'Blue Chip' thrives in full sun and well-drained soils, tolerates drought, wind, and urban conditions, and requires very little maintenance. It's also deer-resistant and excellent for erosion control, particularly on slopes and embankments.

Its reliable hardiness, quick coverage, and cool-toned foliage make 'Blue Chip' a favorite among gardeners and landscapers seeking durable, attractive ground cover.
