Juniperus squamata 'Blue Swede' is a slow-growing, dwarf evergreen shrub known for its striking silvery-blue foliage and naturally compact, rounded form. It typically grows to about 50–80 cm tall and 1–1.5 meters wide, making it perfect for smaller gardens, rockeries, or front-of-border plantings.

The foliage is dense, needle-like, and vibrant blue throughout the year, intensifying in color during the colder months. Its uniform, mounding habit gives it a soft, cushion-like appearance, offering excellent texture and contrast when paired with flowering perennials or darker evergreens.

‘Blue Swede’ is well-suited to full sun and thrives in well-drained soils. It is highly drought-tolerant, deer-resistant, and requires little to no pruning to maintain its natural form. It also performs well in both urban and coastal environments, making it a versatile and durable landscaping plant.

This cultivar is perfect for adding year-round interest and a cool-toned accent to gardens, whether used singly or mass-planted.
